Staff of the Data Centre of the Institute of Geophysical Research of the National Nuclear Center of Kazakhstan Took Part in the International Science and Technology Conference (SnT2025) |
The Eighth International Science and Technology Conference (SnT2025), organized by the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), was held in Vienna, Austria, from 8 to 12 September 2025.
The conference brought together more than 2000 participants, including scientists, technical and policy experts, academics, journalists, and representatives of civil society. Its primary objective was to facilitate knowledge exchange and strengthen international cooperation in support of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT).
Kazakhstan was represented by staff of the Data Centre of the Institute of Geophysical Research of the National Nuclear Center (NNC RK) — Aidyn Mukambayev and Irina Aristova.
The Kazakhstani specialists presented poster reports on the following topics:
- monitoring of high-mountain glaciers in the Tien Shan using stations of the Kazakh segment of the International Monitoring System (IMS);
- the contribution of the National Nuclear Center’s station network to global and regional monitoring;
- research based on the analysis of historical seismograms of peaceful nuclear explosions conducted at the Azgir Test Site (West Kazakhstan).
Additionally, in an online format, Data Centre staff presented a e-poster on the development and implementation of a new system for data acquisition and storage at Kazakhstan’s National Data Center.
Aidyn Mukambaev also participated as a speaker in the panel session “Impact of Extreme Conditions on the CTBT Monitoring System”
The participation of Kazakhstani experts in SnT2025 underlined the significant role of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the development of the international monitoring system, as well as its contribution to global efforts to ensure nuclear security and strengthen the CTBT regime.
