“Borovoye” seismic array (AS057, BVAR)
An auxiliary seismic array of the International Monitoring System (IMS) “Borovoye” AS057 (BVAR) is located at Byurabay region of Akmola area of Republic of Kazakhstan near Vorobyevka settlement on the territory of "Burabai" National Park. The site is located within Borovoye granite massif. This massif relates to granite intrusions of silur- low Devonian age. The site is located in eastern peripheral part of the massif..
The seismic array configuration is the following: around center BVA0, BVA1 on circles of radius ~700m and ~1500 m there are two boreholes contours with seismic sensors. The central sensor (BVA0) is broadband, three-component CMG-3TB (Guralp), other 9 seismometers are one-component, vertical GS21 (Geotech Instruments).
Recording instruments are 24-bit ADC Europa (Nanometrics). Sample rate: 40 samples/sec/channel. Seismic data are digitized according to GPS. In December 2002 the station was certified by the IMS commission.
Response and phase characteristics of the seismometers installed at the station are here.

Communication system of “Borovoye” seismic array (AS057, BVAR)
Information from remote sites of the seismic array BVA0-BVA4 and BVB5-BVB9 is transferred via optic fiber communication channels to the Central Recording Facility. Further the information is forwarded via satellite channels to the International Data Center (Vienna) and to Data Center (Almaty) simultaneously. The system is operated remotely from the Central Recording Facility. In Almaty, in addition to operation with seismic data, it is also possible to control seismic array stations status.
